Ethan’s smile can light up any room. As he greets the old, gray haired, man for what he knows now will be the last time the smile is not there. Inside he knows that he should. He wants so much to smile. But every time he tries he thinks of how long the old man has been with the family and how he will miss the talks that they had and he get’s sad.

Something is truly different now.

When he’s close enough he extends his right hand. The craggy hand of the old man shakes but when they touch it is as firm as ever. Ethan keeps his hand stiff also, just like the old man had taught him. His eyes look up and forward. They focus in on the old man’s eyes. That’s a couple of the things that he has learned while being around the old man........
