A Simple Conversation Is Not just A Conversation

A Simple Conversation is Not Just A Conversation by C F Legette

In the mist of every conversation there is always a silent overseer. The loudest voice cannot out shout it and the slickest tongue cannot deceive it. This third unseen voice locks onto each word and squeezes it until it screams out right or wrong. It may be seconds or it could be as long as years but sooner or later each word will eventually be vetted.

The voice has always been around and will always be around. It has all of the information and most of the time we have only the bits and pieces we like based on experience, history or rumors. Each has flaws; however, the voice does not have to deal with any of the flaws. It has seen everything there is nothing that slips by.

For brevity, let’s get to the point. The voice is TRUTH. But, just that word alone starts a whole new debate.

For me TRUTH comes from only one source. Yet again, that even starts another dilemma. Who is the owner of TRUTH? For us to understand the same TRUTH we must agree on where TRUTH comes from.

My belief is that there is but one TRUTH and it never changes because the author of it never changes, like the explanation of light. Light either exists or it doesn’t. If there is light there is no darkness in that place. So it is with TRUTH. It is or it isn’t

Let’s hear from some various people talking about Truth:

Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains taken to bring it to light.

GEORGE WASHINGTON

Truth is mighty and will prevail. There is nothing the matter with this, except that it ain't so.

MARK TWAIN, Mark Twain's Notebooks

What people believe prevails over the truth.

SOPHOCLES, The Sons of Aleus [fragment]

Truth is like the town whore. Everybody knows her, but nonetheless, it's embarrassing to meet her on the street.

WOLFGANG BORCHERT, The Outsider

Truth will only make you unpopular.

WOLFGANG BORCHERT, The Outsider

Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods.

ALBERT EINSTEIN, Ideas and Opinions: Based on Mein Weltbild

Not everything that's true needs to be said.

CASSANDRA CLARE, City of Bones

Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened. Winston Churchill

If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything. ~Mark Twain

A lie has speed, but truth has endurance. ~Edgar J. Mohn

Some of these quotes are humorous and some are serious but you get an idea how little people think of truth. We all have a yearning to tell the truth. It was given to us from God in the beginning. If you believe the Bible Adam and Eve were deceived first. Yes…it was a co-offense. That’s why Adam (in the Garden of Eden) was shame when God called out to him.

I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid...” (Genesis 3:8-10)

Like Adam we know when we are deceiving. And also like Adam we should have a sense of shame every time we do.

TRUTH is standing on the principles of the Creator. With any creation there must be a creator. My creator is God; the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Alpha and Omega. The same God that also sent His Son to create a new way for us to get back to where we were before…with Him forever.

Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father unless by me. (John 14:6)

A simple conversation is not just a conversation is it?

There is always an overseer and He knows all and sees all. The Good News is that each day is a new one and the Creator has a very forgiving heart.
