A Southern Symbol?

 

Made of straw or reed, it is more of a state of mind than protection. Southern women wear straw hats year round. Any Sunday in the South you may see someone sporting a straw hat of some type. The basic tan color is the preferred but the ribbons are of personal choice.

In the Bible the color purple is a symbol of royalty.
