Arts On The Ridge

 

Spring is in the air.

 It's that time of year.

I'm getting ready for one of my favorite show and sales festivals.

 The Arts On The Ridge is coming the first weekend in May.

A small town just northeast of Columbia, S.C., Ridgeway sits along a railroad track that splits the community in half. Both sides have equal beauty. Main Street on one side with shops and restaurants and the well persevered historical museum (Century House/Town Hall) on the other side. The Mayor, Charlene Herring along with all the city council members makes things as friendly as any town can make it. I so look forward to this every year.

The Palmetto Tree Is A Cabbagge

You have probably never asked yourself

"What does a palmetto tree taste like?"
 

Is this a reasonable question? Who would ever think of eating a sixty-five foot tree?
 

Well the palmetto tree is also know as the Sabal Palmetto.

 It is also actually eatable.

 The tree is also named the Cabbage Palmetto.
 

With that said, of course it does taste like cabbage.

I don't know why but that is exactly what I thought it would taste like.
