Strenght Through Temptation

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.
God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability,
but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape,
that you may be able to endure it.

Gamecock WBB

What an exceptional season this has been for the women’s basketball team at the University of South Carolina. Often great players don’t always turn out to be great coaches. The communication, managerial and motivation skills are often thought of as a given. However many a great players end up pushing too hard or not enough (49ers ex Head Coach Mike Singletary comes to mind). Coach Dawn Staley learned quickly that no player on her team plays exactly like she did or my never will. Everybody has their own way of doing things. It’s up to a coach and his/her staff to recognize and develop them to do the best that they can do. I have watched players on this women’s basketball team advance with skills quickly through trial and errors. The building block has been defense as an individual. One on one each of one of the seniors will find a way to dominate their opponent. This not only helps them win it also shows the underclass what to do.

I like what Coach Staley has done. Well…what she is doing because they are still playing in March. I have been a Gamecock fan for a long time but I have never seen this much excitement about women’s basketball. It’s Sweet….16 that is. Good luck women.

Thanks To A Classy Guy Derrick Fisher

As a long time Laker fan I can only give well-wishes to Derrick Fisher. I have never watched a game where I can say that he didn't give all that he had. Unfortunately time catches up with us all. Believe me I know. The mind is willing but the body can only do with what it has left. The saying you are as only as old as you think... Well, that's a good motivator if you're playing marbles or spades. However, to compete on a nightly basis in a league of professional ball playas is a totally different world. Fifteen years takes its toil. I would hate to see the study of what the body is actually like after that many years of pounding up and down the court. Most real playas are well compensated for that but still it doesn't make it feel any better. As Magic or look at Sir Charles.

Well anyway…Thanks again Mr. Fisher it's been a great run.
