Distractions Can Kill

The problem with progress is adjusting to change without being killed. Most of us feel like we are capable of doing many things at the same time. If you notice lately, there are very few parents teaching our kids to finish one thing before moving on to the next. We consider it an achievement to do several task all at the same time. Our favorite words are Multi-task and progress. There however is one word that stops all of this if a distraction causes us to daydream at the wrong time...death.

The Finger

Listen... I am as much of a bumbling-tourist as anyone when traveling but this takes things to a whole new level. Is it over zealousness or lack of respect? I don't know about you but when I go into a museum I'm afraid to even chew gum for fear it will fall out and cause damage to a piece. To actually touch a six-hundred year old sculpture (yet alone break it) take a special set. Maybe the museum can use them for glue.

Faith is ...

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Well Life: Love I

Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.

I Love National Geographic

National Geographic has come a long way since I flipped through its pages as a child. I am always fascinated by the brilliant images on the pages. You can travel the world while never stepping out of your four walls.
Thank you National Geographic magazine

Faith Hope Love

Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love.

7-4-7 Workout: Short and Sweet

7-4-7
is short but a challenge

How it works

A 7-4-7 exercise starts with seven reps using a moderate weight. Without rest, increase the load (and sometimes tweak the exercise slightly) and knock out another four reps. Finish by lightening the load and completing another seven reps. At 18 total reps per set, as opposed to the 8-10 you’re probably used to, you’re getting enough volume to tax your muscles and force your body to call in reinforcements (by laying down new muscle tissue). Increasing the intensity mid-set means you recruit more muscle fibres in a wider range. This dual approach is a rarity in muscle-gain plans and it makes 7-4-7 the right combination to unlock growth.

Pray To Be Stronger

A common cry among organizations and churches is "How can we develop more leaders?"  Leadership development programs and courses abound but how effective are they at developing leaders?  The better question is, "How did Jesus develop His leaders?"  With Jesus class was always in session and the world was His classroom.

Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. Then the doing of your work shall be no miracle, but you shall be the miracle. Pastor Rick Higgins has a very interesting blog post. Click the picture above to read a great Bible Study.

A Top Five Pick

It would be a sad thing if a frog can’t sing about its own pond.

Columbia, SC is in the center of the state which makes it access-friendly to just about everything with-in a short time. Lakes, Ocean, mountains, city or country, it’s all here. Please don’t let this get too well known. The best thing about it is that we love it just like that. I appreciate

Kiplinger’s shout-out but if this keeps happening they will come. Enjoy it while it last Columbia. We have been discovered. Click the pic to see the number five pick for best cities.

Slow Down

Why am I in such a hurry?

He (Jesus) came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made… ‘Martha, Martha’, the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’”

Southern Tied Young Palm Tree

God has made everything fit beautifully in its appropriate time,
but he has also placed ignorance in the human heart
so that people cannot discover what God has ordained,
from the beginning to the end of their lives.
