High Five Inventor

http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/page/Mag15historyofthehighfive/who-invented-high-five

The Beginning of The High Five

Oh how well I remember that day. I was about eleven years old and had just three sixtied a dunk in the Whittaker Elementary school yard basketball court. At that time I think it was the first dunk ever done also. I turned around and there was a young fella with a not pad and pen sitting near the court. This was the first time that I had seen him there. So, I walked up to him with curiosity. Immediately he jumped up...still excited in seeing that three sixty. He asked what was that. I said ...oh that was a dunk.  "Wow!" He said as he jumped up trying to imitate it. I didn't realize that at the time. My hand went up also and they met in mid air. The sound echoed throughout the playground. It was then that I realized that we had done something good. We slapped hands again. This time everyone was looking. Soon everyone was doing it when they felt good or did something extra ordinary.

So I guess it was the little fella on the side of the court that day that invented the High-five. That little boy with the note pad was of course Brian Williams.

Don't Worrry

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Asparagus Drone Crash and Burn

A drone intended to carry asparagus to a restaurant doesn't go well.
The vegetables end up extra crispy.

It's Tulip Time At The Biltmore

It's a great time of the year to tour the Biltmore in Ashville NC. The weather is perfect for a picnic in the green grass front lawn or in the garden. There is something for everyone to enjoy. I always thought of Christmas as the best time. However, after this visit I'm convinced that anytime is a good time. There is always something new to see.

Honesty In All You Do

The Lord abhors dishonest scales,
but an accurate weight is his delight.
When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.
The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroys them.
Wealth does not profit in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from mortal danger.
The righteousness of the blameless will make straight their way,
but the wicked person will fall by his own wickedness.
The righteousness of the upright will deliver them,
but the faithless will be captured by their own desires

Can Red Wine Make You Mean?

(I have a weird confession: Red wine makes me mean. If I have even one glass, my head feels like it's in a vice and I become super irritable. So much so, in fact, that my old boyfriend used to warn, "Ends in tears, J. Ends in tears.")

Looking at red wine in a different way after this interesting article.

Running On The Left Is Right

http://www.outsideonline.com/1963066/runners-stick-side-road

It has always been taught in elementary school to walk on the left facing traffic and ride (bikes) on the right with traffic. Somehow this must not apply to schools today. Even though it may not be against the law in some states, it is safer to follow the old school rules.

I see too many bike riding the wrong way and way too many runners with their backs to traffic. Please...for your safety follow the old school rules. It could save your life.
