This is such a great day for a guy that everyone calls a friend. South Carolina's only Heisman winner gets his flowers early. A statue ceremony last Saturday for running back George Rogers drew a very respectable crowd.

Bike Riding On A New Level

 

 

I have always thought that I was a pretty good bike rider. I biked from Columbia, SC  to Charleston SC with energy to spare. But watching

Nicole Frýbortová makes me feel more like a tricycle rider. I have never seen some of the moves that she makes done on a bike.

9 Candles Love Hope Faith

Best of 2015

Three young ladies stand on the edge of Charleston SC and the Atlantic Ocean. All three are dressed in white and have on one of the symbols of the south (large brimmed straw hats.)

The oldest carries a large basket, hand made from the grass that  grows on a certain island off Charleston, SC. The grass is called Sweet-grass and the weaved basket making technique came in with slaves and has been passed on through generations. 

The two younger ladies, Faith and Hope stand with patience and discipline. Their white ribbons of peace flap in the changing breeze showing that change is coming. The basket is filled with nine candles. Each candle shines brightly and has a pleasing aroma. In the far left is the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. It reflects the bright suns rays from the suspension cables. And in the right (only on the original painting) are nine doves flying into the distance heavens.

*The original painting belongs to Governor Nikki Haley and is in the South Carolina Governor's Mansion. Four first-run prints  where printed with the above scripture dedications. All other prints will be without doves, scripture and names.



Mother Emanuel AME Still Impressive

 

 

 

The love of God is evident in the way Christians treat each other. There is no other act of love than to forgive someone that truly hurts you. The members of Emanuel AME in Charleston SC showed their Christian love in forgiving the evil done to their pastor and members a little over a month ago.

This was the inspiration behind the painting that I did in memory of them. Yesterday, my wife and I delivered two limited signed prints to the church. We attended bible study and later joined their nine-thirty service. Elder, Reverend Dr. Norvel Goff Sr., Interim Pastor was in the same friendly happy mood that that was displayed during the memorial service that was televised. The congregation was very much a mixture of members, locals, visitors, and all races.  During the service there were many gifts given to the church (including ours.) The surprising thing was that with as many gifts given through their love just as much joy was returned. The sermon was given by retired Rev. Dr. John Gillison. Of all things his sermon was about how Christians are happy people. It was truly a great experience. If you are ever in the Charleston area it will be to your benefit to attend a worship service. Maybe if we could al take turns visiting the world could change.
