The Towel Quandary

I’m not saying that this didn’t happen to me, I’m just saying. Suppose you had a good workout and now are sitting in the sauna enjoying the heat. When you went into the sauna there were no towels hanging on the towel rack. And, you are the only person in the sauna. Out of the corner of your eye (through the glass door) you see someone walk by with what looks like your towel. Okay, every boy owns a white towel with dark blue and light blue strips on it …right? A few minutes later, the same person comes back by the glass door with the same towel. That is when questions flood your mind. This person however, is polite enough to open the door and say, “I’m so sorry. I took your towel by mistake. I didn’t use it. I’m so sorry.

Hummm!!!!

What a nice person right? Well, now you are in a quandary. I know for a fact that when you are wet and you have a towel, the first thing you do is wipe your face with it. It’s just normal. I’m not saying that this guy is lying but who holds a towel without touching some part of your body. God knows where else it has been. This leads to the main question.

Do you use a towel after someone else walks off with it out of your line of site?

  1. No

  1. Yes

There is no (C) answer.

If you don’t mind please give your reasoning behind your well thought out answer in the comment section.

Benefits of Freedom

Christ has freed us so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom. Therefore, be firm in this freedom, and don’t become slaves again.
I, Paul, can guarantee that if you allow yourselves to be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.  Again, I insist that everyone who allows himself to be circumcised must realize that he obligates himself to do everything Moses’ Teachings demand. Those of you who try to earn God’s approval by obeying his laws have been cut off from Christ. You have fallen out of God’s favor. However, in our spiritual nature, faith causes us to wait eagerly for the confidence that comes with God’s approval. As far as our relationship to Christ Jesus is concerned, it doesn’t matter whether we are circumcised or not. But what matters is a faith that expresses itself through love.
You were doing so well. Who stopped you from being influenced by the truth? The arguments of the person who is influencing you do not come from the one who is calling you. A little yeast spreads through the whole batch of dough. 1The Lord gives me confidence that you will not disagree with this. However, the one who is confusing you will suffer God’s judgment regardless of who he is. Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching that circumcision is necessary, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the cross wouldn’t be offensive anymore.  I wish those troublemakers would castrate themselves.
You were indeed called to be free, brothers and sisters. Don’t turn this freedom into an excuse for your corrupt nature to express itself. Rather, serve each other through love.  All of Moses’ Teachings are summarized in a single statement, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” But if you criticize and attack each other, be careful that you don’t destroy each other.
Let me explain further. Live your life as your spiritual nature directs you. Then you will never follow through on what your corrupt nature wants.
Galations 5:1-16

Make It A Weight not Wait Room

Weight Room Tips

Old habits are hard to break and the gym is one of the places that habits are usually written in non-erasable ink. If you get upset that someone is ahead of you on a machine or using a free-weight just before you put your hands on it, then you might be stuck in a old habit. Your routine is getting rusty.

Most gyms are public and there will always be someone else working out when you work out. If you sit there waiting with a frown on your face watching every slow rep the other person does or (worst) ask to jump in for a quick set, you are missing an opportunity to break an old habit. And, breaking that old habit just might help you improve you goals. Why not try a new (don’t be afraid) machine or use a different weight. The body responds to habit and change differently. The different angle, weight or pace hits the muscles with something new to deal with. It will struggle to adjust but it will recover and conquer. We are made like that. Well that’s only if we let the mind get over it. Don’t even think about it. Just do it. Don’t let the weight room turn into a wait room. You will feel so much better at the end of your workout.

It's your choice you can really use the weight room or wait in the wait room.

I Love Art

One of the most interesting acts, which I did as an artist in college, was to copy a famous original artist using the same techniques, material and size. The process started with looking through hours and hours of paintings. I can remember saying to myself that this is going to be impossible and why would I want to copy someone else. I am an original artist I said. During the search I moaned and frowned and I even asked the Professor, What if I can’t find one? Am I allowed to paint my own?”
That’s when the Professor Greene took me out side for a talk. It was a quiet and sunny but cold day. He took the time to explain why.
First off he said you have natural talent and a good eye for depth of perception, shade and you understand light and reflections. What you need now is passion. Passion is… (I know what passion is I’m saying to myself.) Passion is what gives life to what you put on canvas. That passion should live on even if you are not there to explain your work. So, now I want you to look for something that speaks out to you.
I went back in with no intention of looking for anything to jump out to me. However, the very first page that I flipped to was a man on a boat in a storm. It seemed to me that this guy was going to die for sure. As I looked closer there were also sharks in the water, in frenzy, because of all the blood in the water. The man on the boat however was not in  a panic. Why?
By now I had been drawn into the story. I had to know where he came from and what had happened before this. Although I would never know for sure in my mind I could come up with my own story.
That’s when I also realized what Professor Greene was talking about. There was more to this guy on a boat than I had realized. The passion that Winslow Homer put into his work was transferred to me.
I love art.

Trees Cannot Throw Fruit

If you are standing under a tree and all you see are apples on the ground, you can be assured that the tree is more than likely an apple tree. A tree cannot throw it's fruit to disguise what fruit it will produce. There is no deception if you really look.

The bible tells us to judge (yes I said it) each person by the FRUIT it produces. The FRUIT of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Galatians 5:22-23

The bible also tells us what is also very obvious. Now, the effects of the corrupt nature are obvious: illicit sex, perversion, promiscuity, idolatry, drug use, hatred, rivalry, jealousy, angry outbursts, selfish ambition, conflict, factions, envy, drunkenness, wild partying, and similar things. I've told you in the past and I'm telling you again that people who do these kinds of things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21

Therefore, if you have any question about choosing who to follow, I would suggest taking in account what FRUIT are around him or her. As stated before deception only fools you if you choose not to see what is obviously right on the ground around them.

A Tongue Twitter

Its A Tongue Twitter

A conversation between friends can now become international news in the blink of an eye. It amazes me the things that I read on Twitter and Facebook. The thing is you would think that the culprits would only be young naïve adolescent pre-high-school children. However, the more the internet becomes a daily event for more and more, we see conversations all the way up to senior citizens. Just last week I read a heated exchange that started with a anger aunt talking about her sister. The nephew tried to calm the conversation down and discourage the aunt form posting family business online. The aunt had a few words for him also. Soon other members of the family joined in and we now have a family feud going international.

The internet has always been questionable when it comes to whether it is a good thing or a bad thing. Some people see it as evil and Satan, while others use it only to work with and still others use it to vent, inform or just to keep up with world events. The bible says that the tongue is to be tamed.

(Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Psalm 34:13)

What we fail to see when posting words on Twitter, Facebook, etc., is that your fingers become your tongue. The words that appear on your screen are also credited to you if your fingers did the typing. Anonymous is not unseen by the person that matters the most. God doesn't need to look u any code or trace any internet feed. He has and always will know where you are, what you are doing, and what you are saying whether it is said form your tongue through your lips or through your tongue by finger.

So, whether we believe the internet and the fast development of international communications is a good or bad thing, the only thing we have true control of is what comes from our tongue.

What exactly is DOMS?

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness

After a hard workout
I remember when my high school coach would make us warm up before and after lifting. He would also make us work through the discomfort at the next work out. I have said that Old-School is still the best school. It also seems to always come back to the basics.
