One Room Houses Are Cute

Some are downsizing to smaller tiny home.
And, the looks of some are enticing.

There are advantages and disadvantages.

But, one thing is sure. If you don't like the scenery
you can always pick up and move very easily.

There Is Sweet-Grass In The Low Country

In the Low-country (South Carolina, Georgia and Florida coast) there is a strong but fading culture craft. It's called Sweet-grass basket weaving. The distinct two shade design is a world-wide collectible item. People travel from around the world to take back with them a handmade art basket.

What is SweetGrass?

http://www.sciway.net/facts/sweetgrass-baskets.html

Sweetgrass (Muhlenbergia filipes) grows in the moist, sandy soils near oceans and marshes. Although nondescript much of the year, you can easily recognize it by its vibrant purple plumes in the fall, which eventually fade to white. It's harvested in the spring and summer by "pullers" who slip it from its roots and place it in the sun to dry.

As the years pass there are fewer and fewer people able to put up with the stamina, dedication and discipline to make these flawless designed baskets.  Garden and gun has a great article on Mary Jackson (one of the best basket weavers today.)

Everyone Tried To Do Better

The greatest example of strength that I have scene in my life time came from the voice of a heartbroken lady with a heavy Gullah accent. Gullah is a language from where we call the low country. It is also called Sea Island Creole English and Geechee by some. The language roots are planted on the coast of South Carolina, Georgia upper Florida. But, it was Charleston, South Carolina that this happened. The lady (Nadine Collier) could not conceal the pain in her heart as she spoke. It had not even been a full week yet after her mother and eight other church members where shot and killed during bible study but she stood in court and forgave the killer. That is real strength. The world heard her and was moved. Following her statement I remember everybody walking around with a look of shame thinking what would we do in the same situation?

 Everyone tried to do better.

However,

We move on...just like we did after the 9-11 emotional unity shift. Our unity only seems to last for as long as our memory last. Where is the Gullah voice now? Oh... it's still there. It's just being drowned by darkness. Darkness is not a good place to live. Light and Darkness cannot share the same space. It is physically and mentally impossible to do.

The voice of Nadine was strong because it was really the word of God speaking through her.
(For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15)

It is not strength if our Christianity is displayed when everything is going well. The True sign of strength comes when Christianity doesn't look just like the world when things go bad.

Walk in the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of sinful nature.
Galatians 5:16

A Prayer For Light

God Is ...

The only answer to our current turmoil is for everyone to pray before words are spoken and pray before steps are taken. Darkness conceals evil only for a moment.

"For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.

Wisdom and Youth

http://fineartamerica.com/featured/humble-strutt-bridge-walk-c-f-legette.html

As she walked into the booth her wide smile disguised her strong curiosity. Dressed in today’s fashion she could be from any city in America this just happens to be Atlanta. I knew she had something on her mind because it was right there. The question was so ready to pounce out that it bumped around behind her lips until it couldn't help but spill out.
“So…what’s up with all the ladies with the hats on? Is it a Southern thing or what?
“Well, as far as I’m concerned it is. My works often incorporate the strength of the South. And, yes it is mainly the strong women in the family that keeps it together in religion, fashion and hope.” My answer was the shortest that I could come up with. There is not much time to lose in a small art booth during a show and sale.
She had another question already loaded before I completed my answer.
“So... what’s up with this lady and the little girl in this one?”
I knew there was no need in going through the full story of what each one represents in all of my paintings. My answer again had to be to the point.
The ladies in this one are named Wisdom and Youth.”
She laughed. “Well don’t you wish that was true?” There is no wisdom in youth and today wisdom seldom teaches youth anything.”

“I said you are correct but is that the way it has to be?  God’s word hasn’t changed, we have.
She still had a smile on her face but this time it was more of a puzzling smile.

“It was great talking with you.” She said.

"Like wise I said."

That conversation was what I had needed to keep me focused on why I do what I do.
God is still the same God of yesterday.

He is the same today.

And, He will be the same tomorrow.

God's Love
Keep Praying
