Stolen Art, Death-Beds and South Carolina

 

 

Most art stolen (sooner or later) end up back on the walls of the original owner. Insurance companies and art detectives are good at the work they do. However, there are some pieces that never return. A thief usually talks to some one before dying. And, that's how most are recovered. It's when a thief takes the crime to the grave that the art is lost forever...well not really forever. All things eventually come to light. I had no idea South Carolina would be involved with stolen Master pieces.

Tuscaloosa Alabama is a small town that expands to metropolitan like traffic during Saturdays during the fall. The quaint little town becomes bumper to bumper and one to two hours waits at every restaurant. And, everywhere you look everybody has the same initial; the letter A.

 

 

 Alabama Football, with sixteen national championships dominates the area. If you schedule a visit be sure to check the time of your stay. Your visit can change drastically (monetarily and physically.) This story however is not about the small town of Tuscaloosa or the great football story of the Bama Crimson Tide. It is about an even smaller town within the small town.

 

Just North of downtown Tuscaloosa is an artsy village of creative minds and historic structures. In Northport Alabama there is an old train trestle that screams out “Come Visit!”

The structure was built in the eighteen hundreds by one of the Universities Civil Engineers. Any historic buff will find plenty to discover and any artist will appreciate the feeling and atmosphere of Northport. All of the artist will take the time to visit with you while you are there.



 

October Fitness Tip: The Unsuspecting Germ Agent

 

Who thinks about germs when putting your dirty gym clothes and shoes up after a hard workout? I don’t think many people do. However, it would be wise to at least do a cleanup several times a week. I know taking everything out and spraying the inside and out with disinfectant and/or washing the entire bag is painstaking but this is the time that influenza and other strong sicknesses strike.

 

 The main culprit of germs carrying is the least suspected. The soles of your shoes will come into contact with more germs than your bottom on a toilet seat. Just think of your last walk around the gym. Okay, now think a little hard and slow down and picture the people you see in the gym and what they do that makes your head turn. Well, the soles of your shoes touch everything. Once you put them into your bag who knows where and what it spreads germs. I know that washing shoes may not be the best thing for them but I wash them at least twice a week.

 

 

 

This is the beginning of the sick season. If you want to get through it fit and healthy you might want to take the time and clean your gym bag and contents several times a week.
